a month

What is this? A monthly blog? Eh. Busy, busy, busy.

So, lots of things. I successfully stage managed "The Butler Did It" for the Barnstormers' O-show, and even got a rose for doing it (dead now, but still upright in an old bottle of mineral water). This was my first flower received for acting-related things for the over-four years I've been at JHU. The cues all went pretty well... I was feeling the rhythm of the whole thing... "warning E 6.5... go E 6.5". Stage managing is also somewhat of a power trip, although not to the levels of producer or director, I imagine. I had keys!

When classes started, no one was registered for the class I'm co-running this semester. But we filled it up (though the max was five). If we had under three, we wouldn't've been able to do it. Yay! My job is to teach fellow undergrads how to teach poetry to schoolchildren. This is a recursive step promotion from last semester, teaching poetry to schoolchildren. Also, I got into the graduate-level poetry class I was trying for. Double yay, but triple intimidation.

While hawking Throat Culture (sketch comedy troupe) at the student activities fair, four different people from Witness Theatre (student-written plays) told me I needed to come to auditions for a specific role, and I did, and I got it. The part is Charlie Brown in a play called "You're in Purgatory, Charlie Brown," and it's the lead of the play and perhaps the entire showcase of four plays. This is my first lead role ever. In addition, as TC prez, I've been running our own auditions this weekend. The Buttered Niblets (improv group) predictably stapled posters directly on top of ours within 24 hours of us postering, even though they already had posters up. Sigh. See how I'm good for the Charlie Brown role?

I spoke up in a lecture course called "Anthropology of Love," which led to me completely messing up the section assignments for the entire class. IM me to find out more. For the take-home final, I need to write about my first love. Gimme a C, gimme an H, gimme an R...

What am I forgetting? Oh, yes, Friendster. I started doing that. This is my user page. If you want to be my friend, you should add me. I like to say "yes." The e-mail I use for it is sonicwav (at) yahoo (dot) com... you might need that to add me. I'm even friends with Edward Norton, though it's not really him... I can dream... we would be good friends, me and Ed... me the stalker, he the stalkee... me the nerdy student, he the famous actor... male bonding, fishing trips, swapping "boy talk," braiding each others' hair... um...

In any case... I bought five John Hughes movies on DVD last week: Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and Ferris Bueller. I want to go back in time and marry Molly Ringwald in 1986 (circa Pretty in Pink). Or Audrey Tautou now... she's like the french Winona Rider, but she doesn't steal stuff... and she's only three years older than me! Speaking of which, I feel like the oldest undergrad on campus... probably because I am.

Good grief.
